Academic and Statutory Decisions Review and Appeal Procedure

According to the Academic and Statutory Decisions Review and Appeal Procedure, you can begin the Review and Appeal of Academic Decisions process for progressions outcomes or final subject results when there are Legitimate Grounds of Review or Appeal.

Progressions Outcomes

If you have met the criteria for certain academic status under the Unsatisfactory Academic Performance Procedure, you will receive an Academic Performance Notice (APN) after the end of a study trimester. Instructions for the Review and Appeal of Academic Decisions can be found in the APN.

Please refer to the FAQ if you received an ‘Exclusion’ status for more information on possible next steps.

Final Subject Results

The Review and Appeal of Academic Decisions is also applicable if you have Legitimate Grounds of Review or Appeal after the official results for subjects have been released.

According to the Academic and Statutory Decisions Review and Appeal Procedure, “students may seek review of and/or appeal Academic Decisions of final subject results after the official result release date and after received feedback from the Subject Coordinator or the lecturer. Students need to provide new and compelling evidence that was not available to the student at the time of making the Original Decision and which may impact upon the final subject result”.

Academic Misconduct Procedure

You can speak to a Student Advisor to clarify matters regarding the Academic Misconduct Procedure and receive guidance for the written statement before your Hearing.

Should you have Legitimate Grounds of Appeal according to the Complaint and Conduct Decisions Appeal Procedure, you can submit an Appeal Application within 20 University Working Days from the date of the outcome.

Additional Support

If you received an “Academic Caution” or “Conditional” status, and would like to seek academic support, you are encouraged to find the relevant resources provided in the Learning Centre. Or for any reasons you are considering reducing your study load (i.e., lesser than 4 subjects per study trimester), please reach out to [email protected].
